Directions to the Race & Festival

 

The Dutchess Dragon Boat Race and Festival will be held at the boathouse of the Hudson River Rowing Association in Poughkeepsie, NY

PARKING

Parking is FREE for this event, as per a financial arrangement with the Hudson River Rowing Association. All traffic will ENTER from the North Water Street gate entrance, and then EXIT past the Marist College Boathouse, Longview Park, through the tunnel, up the hill through the Marist College campus, and out the North gate entrance onto Route 9 across from the Home Depot/Staples Plaza.

by TRAIN
From the Hudson Line and Poughkeepsie Train Station
Exit the train station through the back and the parking garage. Turn right onto Water Street, continue past the Children’s Museum, Hoffman Street Bridge and past the Metro North Service Building. It is a one mile walk from the train station.

PASSENGER CARS
From Hyde Park and points north
Take Route 9 South. There will be a series of lights along the Marist College Campus, go through all of these lights and then stay in the right lane to take the first off ramp past Marist, “Water Street”. Take this spur to the Hoffman Street Bridge, take a right onto the bridge and another right onto Water Street.  Take Water Street past the Metro North Service Building, go through the main gate by the Vassar clubhouse (blue building on the left) and follow the main road, take a hard left at the bottom of the hill just beyond the gate, the HRRA Community Boathouse is at the very end of this road.

From Points South
Take Route 9 north, stay to the right as you pass the Mid-Hudson Bridge. You have two options:

1. Main Street exit: Immediately after the Bridge, left onto main street, pass the Train Station and take a right onto Water St., continue past the Children’s Museum, Hoffman Street Bridge and Metro North Service Building, go through the main gate and follow the main road, take a hard left at the bottom of the hill just beyond the gate by the Vassar clubhouse (blue building on the left), the HRRA Community Boathouse is at the very end of this road. This route brings by restaurants and stores if you are interested in stopping for food, coffee, a haircut, a paper, etc.

2. Albany Street exit: Go through the flashing red light and take a left onto Hoffman Street where it forms a T, veer to the left and take a right onto the Hoffman Street Bridge and another right onto Water Street – be cautious on this bridge, visibility is poor. Take Water Street past the Metro North Service Building, go through the main gate by the Vassar clubhouse (blue building on the left) and follow the main road, take a hard left at the bottom of the hill just beyond the gate, the HRRA Community Boathouse is at the very end of this road.

From the Mid-Hudson Bridge
Take the first exit off the bridge for Route 9 – immediately get to the right and follow directions for the Main Street or Albany Street Exits.

From Route 44/55 and points East
1. Take the arterial (44/55) to the Mid-Hudson Bridge but get off on the Route 9 exit just before the Bridge (stay to the right). Follow directions for the Main Street or Albany Street Exits.

2. Take the arterial (44/55) to the Intersection of Market (Mid Hudson Civic Center, Poughkeepsie Grand and City Hall are on this corner). Stay to the right and instead of veering left with the rest of traffic, stay straight and follow Mill Street. There will be two lights, veer to the right at Cafe Aurora and continue on Delafield St. Go approximately 4 blocks (past Mt. Carmel) to the light at Hoffman St. Take a left onto Hoffman St., take this over the bridge and make a right onto Water Street.  Take Water Street past the Metro North Service Building, go through the main gate by the Vassar clubhouse (blue building on the left) and follow the main road, take a hard left at the bottom of the hill just beyond the gate, the HRRA Community Boathouse is at the very end of this road.
