The move reinforces the city where the Federation was founded in 1991 as its enduring institutional home.<\/p>\n<p>Claudio Schermi, President of the IDBF, said:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cIncorporation in Hong Kong is not a conclusion, but a beginning. It anchors our Federation in the city where our international story started and strengthens our ability to serve our members and the global dragon boat family.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>This vision is reflected in the Executive Committee resolution of 9 May 2026 confirming the relocation of the IDBF global headquarters to Hong Kong. The decision underscores the Federation\u2019s commitment to strengthening governance, enhancing member services and positioning dragon boat for its next phase of international growth.<\/p>\n<p>The announcement comes in a landmark year that marks the 35th anniversary of both the IDBF and the Hong Kong China Dragon Boat Association, as well as the 50th anniversary of the Hong Kong International Dragon Boat Races.<\/p>\n<p>As part of this new chapter, the IDBF will become the first international sports federation to participate in the Hong Kong SAR Government\u2019s Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau Pilot Scheme, an initiative designed to support international sports bodies establishing a base in the city.<\/p>\n<p>The IDBF acknowledges with appreciation the Hong Kong China Dragon Boat Association\u2019s continued support and its critical role in helping the Federation through this important step.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_4352\" style=\"width: 610px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-4352\" class=\"wp-image-4352 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dragonboat.sport\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/IDBF-hk-incorporation-600px.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"600\" srcset=\"https:\/\/dragonboat.b-cdn.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/IDBF-hk-incorporation-600px.jpg 600w, https:\/\/dragonboat.b-cdn.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/IDBF-hk-incorporation-600px-480x480.jpg 480w\" sizes=\"(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) 600px, 100vw\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-4352\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The Hon.
